Caroline Mazzer, PhD

Licensed Psychologist

Dr. Mazzer specializes in providing evidence-based treatments for children, adolescents, and their families. She has expertise in treating a range of emotional and behavioral concerns, including anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, ADHD, self-harm behaviors, and suicidal ideation. Dr. Mazzer has extensive training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Parent Management Training (PMT). She is also certified in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) and greatly enjoys working with parents to build stronger relationships with their children and manage difficult emotions and behaviors (e.g., low frustration tolerance, aggression, impulsivity, non-compliance).

Dr. Mazzer’s approach to therapy is individualized and collaborative. She works closely with each client to identify treatment goals and incorporates cognitive, behavioral, and acceptance-based strategies tailored to their specific needs. Her treatment is practical and skills-based, with a focus on helping clients make meaningful, concrete changes to improve day-to-day life and promote long-term well-being. Dr. Mazzer strongly believes in exploring and building on her clients’ existing strengths, interests, and values. She strives to create a compassionate and supportive environment where individuals feel comfortable sharing their experiences. Dr. Mazzer approaches emotions and behaviors with non-judgmental curiosity and often invites clients to do the same.

Education and Training:

Dr. Mazzer earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Hofstra University. Prior to this, she graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Miami with a B.A. in Psychology. She completed her pre-doctoral internship in psychology at Rogers Behavioral Health in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where she specialized in providing individual and group DBT to adolescents in intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization programs. Dr. Mazzer completed her postdoctoral psychology fellowship at the Virginia Treatment Center for Children/VCU Health in Richmond, Virginia, where she provided individual, group, and family therapy to children and adolescents in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
